Christine Jennings (Dem) is running in a very competitive race for Florida’s 13th Congressional District against anti-choice Vern Buchanan (Rep). Jennings lost to Buchanan in 2006 by a narrow margin of 365 votes. In her professional life, Jennings started out as a bank teller and worked her way up. Through various leadership positions with different banks she eventually became the founder and CEO of Sarasota Bank. Jennings has been a resident and active member of her community for 23 years, during which she took on many prominent roles including President of the Downtown Association of Sarasota, Director of Community AIDS Network, and Director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Sarasota County, and she has received numerous awards for her work. Jennings is dedicated to finding bipartisan solutions to problems facing the country such as the housing crisis, our unstable economy, and inadequate health care.
